“Community is the heart of our mission at BEK,” says Brett Stroh, President of the BEK Board of Directors. “When we support local organizations, we help to build stronger communities.”

The CPP was established by the BEK Board of Directors to address both current and future community needs. Grant applications are reviewed twice a year, in April and October. Recipients are selected based on their project’s impact and alignment with BEK’s mission of community advancement.

City of Steele Updates Community Center

One of this year’s Spring recipients of a BEK CPP grant is the City of Steele. The Community Building in Steele remains a central hub of activity, frequently used by local clubs, organizations, and residents for meetings and recreation. However, limited space has made scheduling difficult. An additional room in the lower level of the building could help alleviate this challenge, but it requires repairs before it can be used.

“The three windows in the room are leaking and need replacement,” says Norm Fries, Steele City Auditor. “The grant dollars awarded will help cover the cost of replacing these windows, ultimately expanding usable space and improving access for the community.”

“BEK has always been a part of the communities we serve, and we want to progress and grow with them”, says Stroh. “This is just one small way we can help, and that’s our goal.”
