Oklahoma Superintendent Ryan Walters Defends Patriotism in Schools & Wild Ponies of Chincoteague

He has been a strong advocate for removing divisive ideologies from the classroom, striving to create a learning environment rooted in traditional values. Under Walters’ leadership, Oklahoma’s schools have seen significant improvements in performance, though his policies have sparked controversy, with some critics calling for his impeachment. Recently, Walters stood up for a student disciplined for displaying an American flag on his truck, arguing that schools should celebrate patriotism, not suppress it.

Nanette Holt reported on the fascinating tradition of the Wild Ponies of Chincoteague. This year marked the 99th annual Wild Pony Swim, a beloved event that draws visitors nationwide and supports the local volunteer fire department through the auction of baby ponies. Holt was joined by her daughter, Natasha, who shared her experience of buying one of these ponies, named Splash, at auction. Due to regulations, Splash was not allowed to stay with the wild herd, as only 150 ponies are permitted on the island.

The episode ended on a joyful note as co-host Emily announced her upcoming move to Montana to join her husband in his work as a hunting guide, sharing photos and plans for their new life together.
