From Cartels to Crops: Aaron Murphy’s Mission in El Salvador

Aaron shares how El Salvador has transformed over the last five years, with dramatic improvements in safety, security, and tourism after aggressive action against crime and cartel violence. He explains how his childhood growing up in northern Alberta sparked his passion for travel and eventually led him to build a new life in Central America.

Aaron also opens up about his personal journey through sobriety and how prayer and faith changed the direction of his life. Today, he works closely with small farmers and government leaders to promote regenerative agriculture and healthier farming practices. Instead of relying on chemical-heavy farming methods, Aaron helps farmers transition to profitable crops like ginger, turmeric, and berries while restoring damaged soil naturally.

The conversation also highlights Aaron’s humanitarian efforts, including operating six women’s shelters in the Amazon region that support victims of domestic violence through life-changing recovery programs. Trent and Aaron discuss the global dangers of chemical farming, misleading organic labels, and why empowering local farmers is critical to protecting food systems and rural communities around the world.
