EPISODE 12: Turtle Mountain Corporation Origins and Supposed Benchmark Electronics Exit
And follow one of those Sperry Rand Univac alumni, who grew up in North Dakota and attended North Dakota State University, as he branched out on his own to form Turtle Mountain Corporation (TMC) in 1974 on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation.
BEK News even tracks how various presidential administrations and their policies affected Native American Reservation economic development efforts similar to TMC and how TMC would later move off-Reservation in the early 1980’s, next door at the Reservation’s edge not far from the U.S.-Canadian border, into the tiny City of Dunseith, long before Hoefer RV took over the Dunseith site in 2022 and the ensuing defense aerospace building scandal currently taking place there.
BEK News also takes a look at how a Turtle Mountain Reservation members-led organization called TMC, Inc. (a.k.a. Chiptronics) came to be in 1977 and how it would help TMC and its successor companies over the following decades (Pemstar which purchased TMC in 2000 and Benchmark Electronics which purchased Pemstar in 2007), until 2015 when Benchmark Electronics mysteriously up and left its North Dakota operations, supposedly.
Allegations swirl that TMC, Inc. (Chiptronics) kept at it even though that type of work should have ceased.
And things supposedly got DEADLY serious from there.
