Do drastic SSRI Dosage Change Cause Suicide, Homicide, REM Sleep Disorder or Psychosis?

In her book “Prozac: Panacea or Pandora? Our Serotonin Nightmare!” Dr. Ann Blake-Tracy lays out how similar the antidepressants prescribed today are compared to PCP or LSD. They all increase serotonin.

She shares a video clip from the Gary Null movie "The Drugging of Our Children’’ with Corey Baadsgaard the only - almost school shooter - who explains why he took his gun to school and held his classmates at gunpoint for 45 minutes and to this day still has no memory of it.

Ann also dissects the medications nurse Andrea Yates was prescribed, who drowned all five of her children less than 24 hours after her dosages were drastically changed.

REM Sleep Disorder causes patients to act out their nightmares in real life. Shockingly, 86% of those diagnosed with real-life nightmares like Robin Williams, have been found to be taking an antidepressant.

More information on REM Sleep Disorder:

REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) is a condition where individuals unknowingly physically act out their dreams while asleep, often leading to potentially harmful movements. This can be particularly dangerous if the dreams are violent, posing a risk of injury to both the individual and their bed partner. Due to these risks, seeking treatment is crucial.

The underlying causes of RBD vary. In about 55% of cases, the cause remains unidentified. However, the other 45% of cases have been linked to certain triggers, such as withdrawal from alcohol or sedative-hypnotics, and the use of specific medications. These include tricyclic antidepressants like imipramine, serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as fluoxetine, sertraline, or paroxetine, and other antidepressants like mirtazapine.

Interestingly, while some medications, particularly tricyclic antidepressants, may be effective in treating RBD, they can also paradoxically induce the disorder. Newer antidepressants like venlafaxine and mirtazapine are also known to either trigger or exacerbate RBD symptoms.

When it comes to treating RBD, the approach is twofold: pharmacological and behavioral. Unfortunately, there is no known cure for RBD at this time. Therefore, treatment focuses primarily on managing symptoms, particularly the dangerous motor behaviors associated with the disorder. The goal is to reduce the risk of injury and improve sleep quality, making the management of this condition a careful balance of medical and behavioral strategies.
