Click Smart – Stay Cyber Safe - Safe Online Shopping

Online shopping has made gift-giving, errand-running, and even everyday grocery pickups a whole lot easier. But with that convenience comes a responsibility to protect your money and your personal information. Whether you’re shopping for the holidays or just picking up something you need, a few smart habits can help you shop with confidence.

Shop on trusted websites.
Stick to retailers you know and trust, and look for “https://” and a padlock icon in your browser’s address bar before entering any payment information. If a site looks unfamiliar or unpolished, take a moment to research it before you make that purchase.

Use strong passwords.
A strong, unique password for each shopping account makes it much harder for anyone to break in. Consider using a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols, and avoid reusing the same password across multiple sites — that way, if one account is compromised, the others stay safe.

Beware of deals that are too good to be true.
We all love a good bargain, but scammers often use unbelievable discounts to lure shoppers in. If a deal seems far below the going rate, pause and double-check the seller before entering your card details.

Monitor your bank statements.
Make a habit of reviewing your bank and credit card statements regularly. Catching an unfamiliar charge early — and reporting it right away — can save you time, money, and hassle down the road.

Online shopping doesn’t have to be stressful. With a little awareness, you can enjoy the convenience while keeping your information right where it belongs — with you.
