Located at 116 N. 5th Street in downtown Bismarck, Crappy 2 Happy is the brainchild of Amanda Harris, a self-proclaimed “junking” enthusiast who turned a personal passion into a thriving business. What started as a small endeavor in her Mandan home has grown into a treasure trove of beautifully upcycled and refurbished pieces, each with its own story. Harris has transformed her shop into a cozy and inviting space filled with everything from restored furniture and vintage décor to art, books, and even a nostalgic Mr. Bubble display. A proud Pride of Dakota member, Harris also supports other local artisans by offering their products in her store, making Crappy 2 Happy a hub for North Dakota-made goods.
Meanwhile, just across town in south Bismarck, Julie Neidlinger has built her own creative empire at Lone Prairie Art Works. A true pioneer in North Dakota’s blogging scene, Julie launched one of the state’s very first blogs in the late 1990s and has since expanded her work into writing, illustrating, and crafting. She pens books about North Dakota history and events, authors adventure stories for children, and handcrafts clever and artistic greeting cards. Her stunning paintings and intricate city maps of Bismarck have become beloved keepsakes for locals and visitors alike. Like Harris, Neidlinger is also a Pride of Dakota member, dedicated to sharing the beauty and uniqueness of North Dakota through her work.
